08 Jul We are delivering Sector Based Work Academies in Health and Social Care
Our Sector Based Work Academy in Health and Social Care started on Monday 6th July and will run for 2 weeks at a training centre in Derby. We were approached by Ingeus ( a Work Programme Provider) and asked to deliver an academy for an employer who owns several Care Homes in the Derby area.
The employer needs new Care Assistants to work in her Care Homes, but she requires them to have relevant knowledge, skills, training and qualifications. We have designed a specialised Sector Based Work Academy that meets the employers needs and requirements and that provides new staff with the skills, knowledge and qualifications to do the job.
On completion of the Sector Based Work Academy, the learners will be interviewed by the employer and successful interviewees will be offered full time Care Assistant jobs with the company.
Over the 10 day Sector Based Work Academy, the 9 learners will gain the following Qualifications:
- Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
- The Care Certificate
- Awareness of Safeguarding vulnerable adults
- Health and Safety for Carers
The Sector Based Work Academy will also include:
- Preparing for Work and Understanding your Job Role
- Providing a Duty of Care
- Privacy and Dignity
- Fluids and Nutrition
- Awareness of Mental Health, Dementia and Learning Disabilities
- Infection Control and Prevention
- Applying for a Job and Preparing for Interview
- Interview Skills and a Mock Interview
