Level 2 National Award in Infection Control (QCF). This is a one day course.
Controlling the spread of infection is of utmost importance in a broad spectrum of workplaces, including hospitals, care homes, schools and nurseries, in fact, any environment where people work and live together. This qualification raises employees’ awareness of minimising the risk and controlling infection.
It is essential that employees are aware and knowledgeable of the hazards and controls associated with the spread of infection at in the workplace. This is to ensure the safety of themselves and those around them.
Healthcare is one of the higher risk environments. Each year a significant amount of people are made ill or die as a direct result of the spread of infections. Healthcare providers have legal and moral obligations to make absolutely certain their staff are effectively trained and ideally hold a relevant qualification to ensure they are not contributing to these statistics.
This national award is aimed at anyone needing to develop the underpinning knowledge of how to control the spread of infection in their workplace or home environment. This includes giving an increased understanding of the causes of infections, the conditions in which they thrive and the ways that they can be spread. It also covers suitable methods of cleaning and waste disposal that help prevent the spread of infection, along with the personal protective equipment they can use for their own safety.
